The Professional, as well-documented on the pages of this blog, is a hometown girl of Portland, Oregon. Sure, she's lived the fabulous life in Los Angeles for the last twelve years--but she certainly hasn't forgotten where she's from :-)
Today, she reminds her readers of her hometown status, as a gentle reminder: Fresh kids from "P.O." have an intuitive, intrinsic, inherent knack for the Mean Shoe Game. Having it its pretty much standard. And why? The Professional believes that it likely has something to do with the fact that both Nike and Adidas call Portland their international headquarters. Its just way too easy to have shoe swagger when the Pacific Northwest is your home. Period.
With that said, The Professional doesn't feel like she's outplaying her position by announcing that she knows, with certainty, which style is the Best Nike Ever. Feel free to argue your own opinion, but The Professional won't budge from what she knows:
The Best Nike Ever is the Air Max 95.
Stop playing. You know this wins the award, hands down, for hottest silhouette that Nike has pumped out in its 35 year history. Sure, the Air Force One and the Dunk are high up there on the list, but the Air Max 95? A true classic. The Professional had the shoe back in 1995, and remembers feeling both sporty and stylish as she pranced around Portland in what she would eventually deem "the hottest sneaker ever."
She understands, that in the spirit of "throwbacks," the Air Max 95 now comes in a wide range of newfangled hues. But The Professional? She prefers to keep it old school with the yellow on gray on black. There is nothing more classic-ly Nike...!
On the (Sneaker) Mean Shoe Game front, The Professional is delighted to report that Nike has re-released the Cortez. In 1972, it was Nike's first sneaker, fashioned out of nylon and suede to create a lighter-weight running shoe. The Cortez reminds The Professional of one distinct thing from her youth...crip-walking. No, she herself never crip-walked, but the Cortez was like the perfect shoe (for gangbangers) to crip-walk in. It just was. Get yours at http://www.nikevintage.com
